Greetings from the Cultural Arts and Diversity office,

We hope that you have welcomed this New Year with great resolutions and positivity!

Cultural Arts and Diversity continues to enhance the cultural climate at the UCSC campus. Therefore, we are pleased to host two one-person shows this quarter FREE to the public that truly represents our mission to showcase multi-cultural themes and issues.

On February 8th, 2012, we are hosting Daniel Beaty’s, “Through the Night.” As an actor, singer, and poet, Daniel Beaty has worked throughout the U.S., Europe, and Africa performing on television, acting in theatrical productions, singing leading roles in operas, and giving solo concerts of his own work.

On February 10th, 2012, we are bringing our own Rainbow Theater alumni Yadira de la Riva’s show, “One Journey: Stitching Stories Across the Mexican-“American” Border.” Yadira De La Riva is an artist/educator from El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz and was an intern for Theater of the Oppressed in Brazil in 2002.
